Some of you may have seen that Honduras is back in the news again. The ousted president apparently snuck back in. Daniel Melton heard a rumor that he came by car and hid in the trunk at a remote border crossing where there was little security. This is not documented completely but may be true. He is now in the Brazilian embassy while trying to rally support. He does have many supporters in the country. They have been protesting and rioting in Tegucigalpa. Daniel Melton was San Pedro Sula when they announced a severe curfew – everyone off the streets at 4PM. He had to wait a day until there was a 6 hour window when people were allowed out to do business. He did make it back to San Luis where his family is and they are safe at this time. The situation is very volatile in Tegucigalpa and we desire your prayers. We had planned a medical team trip next week and that was canceled due to the problems.

Daniel Melton reports he was taking care of business and making purchases when he heard the news – President Zelaya has returned to Honduras. There was jubilation among some people and worry among others. There was an immediate curfew placed for 4PM in the afternoon! At this time the Meltons do not feel any specific danger but the situation is volatile and unpredictable. We cherish your prayers for this troubled country and for the missionaries who are laboring there.

We want to send a big thank you to all those who contributed to the McDowell’s vehicle fund. They have been able to purchase a minivan. This will be a big blessing as they transition from primarily language study to full-time missionary ministry. Please pray for their safety as they travel in the future. We look forward to the day when 2 churches become 4 and then 8 and then 16 and etc. etc.etc.

Br. Lee Rickenbach reports the following help from the Lord. “Before we could cut the power to the house it looked like it had fried the stove´s wiring and our stereo, but after repairs were made by 10:00, the stove seems fine and just a fuse to replace in the stereo. Thank the Lord. Through it all, I think the repair man discovered a reoccuring problem — the wires from the meter to the breaker box need to be replaced with copper and a real ground rod needs to be set” This was a result of a large power surge. In the States we often take if for granted that our radio or CD player can be plugged in all the time and we never have problem for years. In third world countries there are often power surges regularly. Additionally, local workmanship is not always up to modern standards. We are thankful nothing else was injured.

The San Luis, Honduras church has a new outreach through a men’s group. This is so critical since homes, marriages and the churches are impacted by the high infidelity rate in Latin America. However, it appears that the success of the group is causing some stir in the “Devil’s camp” and our missionary Daniel Melton reports there is a fresh spiritual battle brewing. They have felt the oppressive power of the enemy. Please pray for the church there and for our missionaries that God’s presence would be manifested and the church outreach would continue.
