Indiana has been blanketed with layers of snow and ice.  Some are comparing the severity to the blizzards of 77 and 78.  During this winter blast guess where the Vice President of E.F.M. is this week?  Petersburg, Florida and Camp Freedom!  He told his wife he wished he were here.  Do you believe him?  Actually he missed out on the best chance to use his Troy-Built snowblower.  Please pray for him this weekend that good contacts will be made for the mission.

We have been toying with the idea of having an auction in the spring of this year.  There are several items in storage in the home office which might bring some money.   A final decision to do this has NOT been made.  However, if you think you might be able to donate items for the auction that would not only bring in a good price but also help bring in people.  Items in this category might include things like hand made quilts, Thomas Kincaid prints etc.  Your possible donation might help us make a definite decision.

This past weekend the Don Smith family and the Manleys were in Cincinatti for a mission’s day emphasis at the Bible Methodist Church.  Rev. Durr and his wife hosted the group with the help of Glen and Helen Reif.  The Smith girls got back into the missionary deputation work by helping with the singing and playing.  God has something for everybody to do it they are willing!  The mission thanks the church for its hospitality and support.

In the fall we told you about Christians in the horn of Africa that were imprisoned for their faith.  We thought all of them had been released but we just found out that some are still in a jail.  Details are hard to get because of oppression.  Please pray for these believers.  Their economic and political situation is horrible.

Our vice president, Steven Hight, is attending an annual tax seminar in Texas this week.  The tax laws for non profit organizations are very complicated and constantly changing or being reinterpreted.  He has become an expert in this area – or at least – he is our resident expert in this area.  Pray for a good seminar and safe travel.  We do not want his plane to hit any geese and land in a river (or the Gulf of Mexico)!

Zack and Sarah Robberts are producing brand new Sunday School literature in Spanish.  It is often difficult to find appropriate Sunday School literature in Spanish for our various Latin American fields.  However, we are blessed to have two talented missionaries with very unique skills.  Sarah Robberts speaks and writes Spanish a professional level as well as understanding the idioms and colloquialisms.   In his infinite wisdom God prepared Sarah for such a time as this by allowing her to grow up on the mission field.  But God’s wonderful planning does not stop there.  She is married to Zack who is an artist.  He has adapted his abilities to the computer and is drawing the illustrations on the computer so they are immediately ready for integration into the materials!  At the National Church convention in December they presented a prototype for the pastors to see.  They have developed an innovative system that allows a church to buy one set and then extract the age appropriate material they need.  You truly have to see it to believe it.  This is extremely cost effective which is of utmost importance in these third world countries where the churches are very poor.   As the churches in Honduras use this material first, any problems can be solved and then it appears the materials can be made available to Spanish speaking fields all over this hemisphere.  Your support of the Robberts on a monthly basis is making this possible.  Please pray for them as they work on this project.  They are up against deadlines and have many other responsibilities to do at the same time.  THESE ARE THE TYPE OF QUALITY MISSIONARIES WE HAVE AT EFM!  Their work will probably benefit thousands of Latin American Sunday School Students over the next several years.
